Looking back

They say, college is one of the best years that life can offer. And i couldn't agree more! No more confining to the little space i have once known as high school. Many of my classmates originate from different states, and they have all come to gather here in PM10 aka the best class EVER. Each and everyone of them made this year so exciting and memorable. Now that i have freedom to bring camera to college, i did manage to capture some really great moments.

Of course as expected, the beginnings were a lil rough, which felicty agrees too. You can read her version here. First day, orientation day. It feels like it was just yesterday. I bet most of us can remember the very important day. For me, it was like starting all over again. In a new place, full of strangers who have now become good friends.

When i arrived, i was told to go to MPH, C floor, omg, that was the first time i thought "shit weh, taylors damn rich why dun wan built lift/escalators" So i rushed up, i was 15 minutes late, but as usual, malaysian timing. For the next 2 hours, all the march intake students had to sit through the super damn shit boring speech. I didn't really pay attention cos how could i? So nervous la. Audrey Tan, one of my friend from TOPSHOP spotted me, we talked a bit then we had to separate cos we took different subject.

I took a good look at all of my classmates, saw familiar faces from high school but mostly are people i've never seen in my life. Isn't it good? A new start is what i need. Some seniors from CAL organised the ice-breaking session so we get to know each others' name. This is when i met sukee, who is now my diet buddy, shopping buddy, etc. She asked me to sit with her, and boy, i was so glad/relieved/happy to have somebody to sit with. My first impression of her is, the girl with the nicest long brown hair! Envy siao!!

And well, like they say, the rest is history. No la, that is just an excuse cos i can't remember how sukee and i became so close. Maybe it's the passion we share for shopping and boys? Hahaha. As time goes by, we expanded our circle of friends, and now all of us get along pretty well.

I don't know why, but i know there'll be a lot of tears on the last day of A-levels. Hopefully, the friendship that we built over the last 8 months will last forever.

Goodbye 2009

Hello 2010

Ninja Joe at Tropicana City Mall

I think it has been a month since i went grocery shopping. Usually i go to Jusco, 1 Utama every weekend to stock up on junk food. That was when my dad is still working here in KL. Since he started working in sabah, the thought of grocery shopping with my mum is just unbearable. She looooves complaining whenever we (my sis and i) are with her.

So uh, since we ran out of essential stuffs like bread, eggs, yogurt, fish etc. We had no choice but to go to carrefour, tropicana city mall, which i can see lit up brightly from my porch.

I heard about this verrryy good place that sells PORK burgers. Why not give it a try? So did it live up to the hype?

YES IT DID!! OMG!! Can say best burger ever?? Haha. Maybe i was starving at the time so anything tasted like heaven la.

The diameter of the burger is about 7cm, perfect size for me cos i managed to finish it!! Lame fact : i cannot finish a burger bigger than mcd filet o fish by myself. BUT. I can eat a lot, just one at a time. Haha. All my classmates know i'm always the last to finish eating. Liang mei and jc are one of the fastest and biggest eaters! *salutes*

IMG_1785
3 Burgers for RM12.95. Add an extra RM3 for fries and drinks. My advice? Don't add. Cos the fries are the thick fat ones, tasteless and the lemonade tastes like detergent.

IMG_1787
What matters is on the inside!! Basic lettuce, tomato slices, mayo and most important, the oh-so-soft & juicy pork patty!!

IMG_1780
Once you go pork, you'll never go chicken!

IMG_1789
I think i've fallen inlove. I wanna go there again!! Porkieeee i'm coming!

IMG_1788
Thank youuuu for opening an outlet so close to home, my heart and my stomach.

Christmas + Birthday

My cousin's birthday is on christmas, so my family will have a double celebration every year.

2x the food, 2x the fun, 2x the JOY!

page
For the past few occasions, our family served the dishes the angmoh way. And it's no different this time. For starters, we had carrot soup with garlic bread with actual sliced/choped garlic toasted to perfection! Then, as seen above, the main course, sausage carbonara, aglio olio, salad and pizza. I won't be surprised if i gained 3kgs during the holidays cos i'm stuffing myself with fatty food almost every week.

What's a birthday without a cake right?

IMG_1718
Happy Birthday!!

Marks & Spencers Chocolate Biscuits for dessert. Aww don't they look pretty?

IMG_1739
Hi all. My name is Gary. I am super manja!

The next day, my sis, mom and i went to midvalley for a quick shopping trip. Since i had my camera, my new love with me, *i exchanged cam with my dad* So now i'm using Canon S90, one of the supposedly best pns cam! Yipeee!

IMG_1771
The deco is a lil creepy for christmas. Dark feeling. But still looks good, for halloween.

IMG_1773
Flying candles? Harry Potter?

IMG_1776
The Gardens. Now this gives me the christmas vibe.

3 more days til new year's eve. Time to write out my 2010 resolution. That is if i'm not too lazy to get started.

Cont : Sabah, Part 3

Day 4

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and Monkey Tops Safari

We left the hotel around 12pm, had lunch at some chinese restaurant then headed off to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park. It took us half and hour to get there by van. And when we arrived, i took out my camera and shot almost all the animals there. The park had the usual common animals such as elephants, tigers, sunbears, monkeys, birds etc. All that i've seen before when i visited Zoo Negara earlier this year. So overall, i wasn't very hyped about the tour. Although, there was one particular animal that caught my eye, the proboscis monkey. It is only found in Borneo and has a kinda big ass nose.

page

After about an hour there, my legs were getting tired, so we decided it was time to continue our journey to the Monkey Tops Safari which is a 2 hour drive from the zoo! OMG! Drive all the way there just to see the wild proboscis monkeys and fireflies?! Oh well, it was all worthwile cos the fireflies, ahhh very pretty! A whole lot of them on a tree made it look like a christmas tree, bright and sparkly!

We arrived there early, had to wait for other tourists to come. Plus, the monkeys don't come out when the sun is still so high up, probably about 5pm when the sun is setting then only we can see them. Meanwhile, my sister and i tried the garra rufa fish therapy. Geez it was ticklish as hell when like 10 fishes are "eating" my dead skin cells. Really cannot tahan after a few seconds.

IMG_1561

I bet i don't have to mention this, it's clear from the pictures! The weather is AWESOME! No rain to spoil our outdoor tour for the past 4 days. Imagine if it was raining? The beach, mangrove, rafting all were not possible.

IMG_1598
Look at the wonderful colours of the sunset. Btw, the sunsets about an hour earlier in Sabah. By 6.30pm it's pitch black already. Therefore, it's time for the fireflies to shine, or... i dunno what word to use.

And that, concludes my 4D 3N tour in Sabah. The next few days were spent at my dad's apartment, pigging out and watching CSI NY.

page6
This is the seafood dinner my dad promised us. We went to Port View, one of the most popular seafood restaurants in KK. Every night at 8pm, they have a cultural show which features pretty women and half-naked men. The service was great, food came in less than 15 minutes although the place was packed. Soft shell crab and cheese baked lobsters are yummy beyond words! Despite the not so appetizing presentation, the sabah vegetables are seriously above average, it doesn't have the disgusting, bland vege taste. I'm craving for seafood as i'm typing this!!! Screw diet lah.

IMG_1628
Me. At Karamunsing Kompleks, equivalent to Low Yat Plaza. My dad's favourite hang out place during the weekends. And yes, i look like a slacker cos sabahans are verryyy casual. I swear i will never be caught like this in KL.

IMG_1647
X'mas decorations in 1Borneo. Located just below my dad's apartment. How fab is that!! I kinda like it, very colourful, much nicer than 1Utama's boring white theme. I want to go Pavilion again to snap more pictures of their x'mas deco before it's all gone. Also to get my baby. *prays hard it is not sold out* or i'll kill someone. Haha. Yes i'm that desperate. Blame the dramas.

THE END of my vacation to sabah.

Cont : Sabah, Part 2

Mt. Kinabalu Resort aka Perkasa Hotel is a total waste of money. We arrived there about 4pm, then checked in. The room that we got was quite big, complete with 3 single beds, tv, wardrobe, dressing table. Then i went into the toilet, i was so shocked to see a really dirty brown dunno got what kind of stain inside the bath tub. Plus, there were no towels at all, the tap water was freezing cold! Can u imagine having to use ice cold water in high altitudes? Crazy!!

With the lousy service and all, i expected the food to be horrible too. Well, it wasn't, the steamboat that night was really good! The servings were pretty good, they had prawns, fish, balls, vege, taufu, foochuk. Too bad they only served clear chicken soup, i was craving for tomyam! YUEN Steamboat anybody?

So after the very filling dinner, we toured the outside of the hotel until about 10pm.

Day 2

Hot spring, Canopy walk

IMG_1101
Woke up early (8am) to catch a view of the magnificent Mount Kinabalu

A very very clean sungai! No sights of rubbish at all

Taking a long walk in the hutan but there were no animals insight.

page3
See the top right hand corner? That's the room for those who want to soak in private. I didn't dare to go into the public pools cos there were so many kids. Kids who love to pee in the pool even though there is a toilet just opposite. Eww disgusting i can't bear the thought of swimming in their pee.

So, i went to the so called butterfly farm, where there were only a few butterflies. Bloody hell con my RM3. And the butterflies weren't even pretty.

page4

Later, we went back to the hotel for lunch cos the tour guide said it's difficult to find a place where you can eat without getting diarrhea. That was another long long drive. Come to think of it, i spent like a quarter of the time visiting, sitting on the bus and van. Thank god for iPod and junk food!

The 10 of us, shared a 10-course meal. Yes, there were 10 dishes but i only remembered to take pictures after we started eating. Food first!

Day 3

Kiulu White Water Rafting and Mangrove Forest

page2
On the second night in KK, my sis and i stayed at Grand Borneo, which is located just beside my dad's apartment and is linked to 1Borneo Hypermall. I wish i had taken some pictures of the room before we messed it up. The room was really really messy, clothes, towels thrown everywhere, empty food containers on the counter, shoes slippers etc. I guess this is what happens when there is no mummy to clean up after us. Not that i'm a dirty person, just sometimes i get lazy.

The buffet breakfast was really good, worth waking up early for. By early i mean 7am. KK people have their breakfast early cos they get up around 6.30am. I had eggs, croissant, baked beans, mushrooms for starters. Then later it was the heavier food like rice, porridge, mee etc. Too bad the only desserts were watermelon, papaya and honeydew. I was hoping for brownies, cakes, muffins! *greedy*

So after a very heavy breakfast, it was time to burn off those calories by going rafting.

IMG_1316
Bought the t-shirt from Filipino Market beside Port View in town. I wanted to get some nice souvenirs for my friends but honestly, there wasn't anything nice.

IMG_1321
Air jernih!! So syok!!

Since we were early, the four of us, my sister, rafter, tour guide and i had the boat to ourselves. My very first time rafting! Got very excited at first but then after 20 minutes my hands were so tired. Haha. It must be the lack of exercise! God i feel so old already.

IMG_1327

Later, we went to visit the mangrove forest and there were quite a lot of activities lined up for us. But like i said, no stamina, so i only took a short ride on the ATV. Haha.

IMG_1350

cats

Took a speedboat to the mangrove swamp, attempt to catch fish and crab but failed. See the picture on the top left hand corner? That is the mangrove seed! I remember learning about it during Form 5 in Biology. I was quite surprised to see many houses on water, can imagine the kids shit pee and play in the river? Then the fisherman catch the fish, then they eat it. Eww!!

So after touring the place, we went back to the apartment for our much needed break from a vacation.

Next update on soft shell crab, 1Borneo shopping, lok kawi wildlife park, fireflies and many many more!

Sweet Escape : Sabah

Papa. The main reason why i chose sabah as my holiday destination. Although it wasn't cheap, my dad said the total cost is close to RM3000, it was definitely worth every cent.

Day 1

Island hopping

IMG_0938
At the port located near Sutera Harbour Resort

IMG_0950
Took a speedboat to Pulau Mamutik. I went up to the deck so that i can enjoy the view, but the wind was too strong, and i didn't tie my hair so i ended up looking like a hantu.

IMG_0956
Sunnies + Flip flops + Shorts + Tank = Comfy

IMG_0958
Weather was perfect, not too sunny and no rain!! But i still applied sunblock SPF50 so i won't be a blackie!! Yes unlike most people, i hate to get a tan cos i look horrible.

The beach is kinda clean, not that much seashells though. I wanted to collect some as souvenirs for my friends. There were some weird stuff that the sea swept in such as hair comb?

Like many people would do when they're at the beach, my sis and i wrote our names etc. I saw some really ridiculous writings like Baba loves Ali 4ever. WTH!! The crazy things we do for love huh.

Activities like parasailing, banana boat, bla bla bla were available but for a price, that i was not willing to pay! As usual, i'd rather spend it on clothes, bags and shoes.

IMG_0983
Cannot swim cos i don't have a swimming suit plus i'm too fat to wear a bikini. Damn sad case right?!!

IMG_1001
Spot the angmoh! Haha. One great thing about tourist spots. Blue eyes and blond haired hotties!

IMG_1026
Orang kaya punya kapal besar

After about 4 hours on the island, we took a bus up to Mount Kinabalu Heritage Resort & Spa. Sounds fancy? Not really. Instantly this malay thing, "khabar angin dari rupa" popped into my mind. More about the resort in the next update.

Xmas Eve : Coco Banana, Sunway

I had a feeling that cheah will have plans for us on xmas eve. And yes she did! One word, CRAZY!

As usual, last minute planning, don't know what time meet where and all that crap. When cheah told me about the plan, i quickly rushed home, bathed, and... shit i didn't plan my outfit, grabbed a simple top, dumped the essentials into my purse then rushed out.

CRAP. I realized i didn't have my phone with me, so, went in again searched up down left right. CAN'T FIND. Think think think. Still can't remember where i put it. I hate my bloody useless memory. Munken and the others were waiting for me, no choice but to use my sister's phone.

After much discussion on mana pergi, we ended up in Coco Banana. Gosh it was super packed like sardin can. Even worse than Halloween night @ Euphoria, MOS. We missed the christmas countdown cos of the bad bad jam. Nevertheless, we countdown in the car. HAHA. We were making the best out of the situation!

Finally arrived at the club around 12.30am, got a table, opened 2 bottles and you know what happens next.

Next update, christmas at my aunt's house!

Home

After almost a week in KK with papa, it's time to fly go back home to mummy.

I'll blog about the wonderful places i've visited in Sabah once i've finished my chemistry thingy.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

Better days ahead

Yes!! I'm off to sabah tomorrow! Almost finished packing, hopefully i don't miss anything out.

My first time on a plane after a very very long time. Too bad i'm flying Air Asia.

Been slacking for the past 2 weeks, eating and sleeping like a pig. I go to bed very early, before midnight, just so i can catch up on all my "lost" sleep time. Around 8am, i will have a very interesting dream, then i don't feel like getting up. So i ended up sleeping until 10am. Weird? It happens almost everyday. Maybe my brain is too inactive that it has to work when i'm sleeping.

Then, i will glue my ass in front of the computer screen, WATCHING A LOT OF TV SHOWS.

That is not how holidays should be spent right? Gosh. I know i should be studying for A2 so that i won't fail my class test next sem.

Okay, i think that is enough update on my damn boring lifeless life.

Wait for the sabah pictures that i'm going to plaster all over this blog!!

P.S: Even the shopping centres are getting boring.

Bedazzled Christmas @ The Curve

When i woke up that morning, i got a message from sukee that she's coming to KL! Super happy that i can finally meet up with her after one week. So, we met up at ikano, then shopped and makan at the curve. First we had yokomon ice cream, daku choko flavour, it was very smooth and chocolatey! Later, we went outside to check out the flea market, which kinda sucks now. Any interesting flea markets around PJ?

After snapping pictures with pretty christmas deco outside in the bloody hot sun, we grabbed a drink (Water Berry) at Juice Works. Ahhhh i feel like having one right now! Then, more picture taking session inside of the curve!
